U.S. Civil War Union Army enlisted soldier light artillery jacket, blue wool with red trim signifying the artillery service, later spread eagle with shield buttons by Scovill, the white cotton lining with the makers oval mark "Welch & Ruehs, No, 2, Paterson, N.J." in two places, the name "Welsch" (sp?) has been written in ink inside the right sleeve, overall in good condition with multiple seam separations at the lining, no moth holes observed, one of the rear rest pads (pillows) is off but stored in the jacket's interior left pocket
